Heart of the Home was founded in 1982 by Mike and Pauline Moran, and remains a family-owned business to this day.
It was 30 years ago that Mike began his life-long career in the fitted kitchen design business when he began working for a national kitchen manufacturer. Those early days ignited a lifelong passion in Mike that has not cooled to this day.
His focus in those days was on the flat conversion market, giving him the opportunity to stretch his imagination to the limits whilst trying to achieve the best fitted kitchen results possible for the most difficult rooms one can imagine.
But Time Passed and Mike’s Passion for Kitchen Design Outgrew His Employer’s Product Line
Mike knew it was time to strike out on his own. So five years after he became a kitchen designer, Mike and his wife Pauline struck out their own. Heart of the Home was born.
It was a natural name for the company because it seemed no matter where Mike and Pauline served their guests, everyone liked their kitchen best.
But There Was a Problem in the Kitchen Design Industry That Bothered Mike
Customers in those days only had two choices. They could visit very expensive High Street kitchen supplier showrooms offering full bespoke kitchen Design Service. Or they could go the DIY route and try to make the best out of the sparse self-design options.
Heart of the Home Found A Better Way
Heart of the Home introduced a third choice that aimed to provide the same level of kitchen Design in Surrey and quality found on High Street, but at a price that wasn’t so dear.
Taking to the streets in their mobile kitchen showroom, Mike and Pauline brought their innovative kitchen design ideas straight to their customers’ homes.
Driven by increased orders and lacking manufacturing capacity, the company rented their first permanent facility. As Heart of the Home’s reputation for designing beautiful fitted kitchens and breathtaking bespoke bedrooms grew, so did the demand for more space.
It would take two more moves until the company purchased their current facility that has grown to include state-of-the-art kitchen and bedroom showrooms as well as a fully equipped on-site manufacturing facility.
Today, Heart of the Home provides an inspiring environment where customers can easily make their kitchen and bedroom design dreams come true.
Yes, the kitchen and bedroom business has evolved greatly since those early days. But Heart of the Home is still leading the way in fitted kitchens, bespoke bedrooms, and custom door design and manufacturing services.
